The person behind it.

I built Ask Seek Abide because Scripture is alive. The Holy Spirit teaches us. God can speak through any verse, in any season, and often does. But there is another layer that opens up when you read a passage the way its first audience heard it: the historical moment, the cultural assumptions, the weight of the original language. None of that replaces what the Spirit is already doing in you. It expands it.

When I sit down to study a passage, I am usually surrounded by books. Old Testament background. New Testament context. Hebrew and Greek lexicons. Cultural studies. History. It is slow, satisfying work, and it has deepened my reading for two decades. Most people do not have that shelf of books or a free afternoon to comb through them. Ask Seek Abide is the study companion I built to bring that depth into reach, quickly, in plain English, for anyone who wants to go a little further.

I have been studying and teaching the Bible for over twenty years. I serve at Mountain View Fellowship in Heber City, Utah, where I built our discipleship program and teach adult classes: Old Testament history, foundations, Bible basics, and more. I have started and run ministries, taught the youth group for years, and speak at women's events, retreats, and special services. Theologically, Ask Seek Abide sits within historic Christian orthodoxy and shares the convictions of the EFCA Statement of Faith. The lens is Jesus-centered, Kingdom-focused, and shaped by the spiritual formation tradition: discipleship as apprenticeship to Jesus, salvation by grace, eternal life as life with God starting now.

This is a small project with a simple hope. If it helps you read more deeply, with the Spirit who is already teaching you, it is doing its job.

So you can spend less time looking things up, and more time sitting with what you find.

When I prepare to teach a passage, I am usually surrounded by books. History. Hebrew and Greek lexicons. Old Testament and New Testament background. Cultural studies. I spend hours circling a single chapter, listening for how the original audience would have heard it, watching the words sit differently once I know where they came from.

It is slow, deeply satisfying work. It has shaped me as much as any other practice in my life.

Most people do not have a shelf of seminary books or a free afternoon to dig through them. So they read a passage. The Spirit speaks. They take what they hear and try to live it. That is not a problem. That is what Scripture is for.

I wanted to put the same shelf of books in reach for everyone, without asking anyone to go to seminary to use it.

Ask Seek Abide is the study companion I built so I would not be the only one in the room with the books. It does in minutes what used to take me hours. Historical context. Cultural background. A few key Greek or Hebrew words. How the passage fits into Jesus' message about the Kingdom. A small, honest invitation you can actually live.

It is not a replacement for Scripture, or for the Spirit, or for sitting quietly with a chapter and letting it speak. It is the layer underneath, the world behind the words, made faster to reach. So you can spend less time looking things up, and more time sitting with what you find.

Ask Seek Abide is shaped by the Gospels, the historic Christian faith, and the Kingdom-of-God message at the center of Jesus' teaching. It is inspired by the idea that following Jesus is not just believing the right things, but learning to live as His apprentice in real, ordinary life.

Discipleship is learning, from Jesus, how to live the kind of life He would live if He were you.

Not trying to be your church, your pastor, or your spiritual director.

Under the hood, in plain English.

Every answer is generated by Claude, a large language model built by Anthropic. When you ask a question or paste a passage, it is sent to Claude through Anthropic's API along with a custom prompt and curated context: public-domain Bible translations, historical and cultural background, lexicon entries for relevant Hebrew or Greek words, and the Kingdom-of-God lens that shapes this tool.

Your questions and the answers you receive are stored privately for your journal. They are never sold, never used for advertising, and never used to train an AI model. More detail on the privacy page.
